Parkhill School Board Picks

Do you live in the Park Hill School District?
Did your property taxes go up for 2010?

The PHSD receives the highest percentage of our property tax dollars and is one of the largest recipients of our state income tax dollars.

While many people are spending less and watching their dollars more carefully, the Park Hill School Board (PHSB) continues the increased spending.  Seems like it is just too easy to spend someone else’s money.

Recently the board was forced to cut nearly $1.6 Million from the budget, but almost immediately voted unanimously to spend $1.33 Million of your tax dollars for “green” construction on the new Tiffany Springs Elementary School.  Of that over $800,000 has a 25-year payback!

Our current board voted for the Gold level and was excited that our newest school would be “greener” than Staley.  See the attached “Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design” (LEED) grid itemizing the additional cost to the taxpayer.

We want to compete on the quality of education not “green buildings”.

Have education results In the Park Hill schools increased like spending?

Stats from 2006 to 2010
·        27% Increase in number of administrators (average salary
before benefits $102,887)
·        5.0% Decrease in Graduation rate
·        One administrator for every 13 classroom teachers
·        One classroom teacher for every 18 students
·        5.3% Increase in total enrollment
·        7.5% Increase in teaching staff

Tax dollars allocated for education are best spent in the classroom educating our children. We will provide solid fiscal stewardship of your tax dollars. Administration and facilities are important but, as every parent knows, our child’s teacher is the #1 factor in academic achievement. Our goal is to retain good teachers who have a passion for teaching our kids and allow those that don’t the opportunity to find other work.

It is time Park Hill lived up to its reputation for quality education.
